I first got into triathlon in my late thirties, years after watching my brother compete in a triathlon and thinking “I would love to be fit enough to be able to do something like that”. When we moved to Wigan, I found Invictus and that was the beginning of the adventure! I’ve since done races of all distances from super sprint to Ironman and have a great community of friends and training buddies in the club.
I decided that I wanted to put something back into this club that has helped me so much, so I joined the coaching team; I am now a BTF Level 2 qualified coach, and I love working with both our junior and adult members, helping them achieve their goals and have fun in our sport. As a coach, I particularly enjoy seeing people really surprise themselves, achieving things through consistent training that they wouldn’t have previously thought possible.
I joined the committee a few years back to help with the running of the club on behalf of our members, and have been serving as chair for the last 2 years. Again, being part of the committee is a great way for me to give back and to contribute to the success of our club.
