Swim Sessions

COLT currently offers 2 swim sessions a Lancaster University Sports Centre, LA1 4YW (Sport - Lancaster University https://goo.gl/maps/jwURJFXFu7Tp5CU78

  • Mondays - 7am – 9am (set behind desk at reception)
  • Wednesdays - 8pm – 10pm (1st hour set provided)

We have 3 lanes booked which should be enough to accommodate us. If you arrive and there are already 8 COLT swimmers in each lane, then we suggest swimming in the general area until 9pm when the set concludes and some people will go.

Each session costs £5 payable by card only at reception. Bulk tickets may be purchased at 15 swims for the price of 12.

It would be useful to have fins, paddles, pull buoy and kick board. There is no need to have all the above but it will benefit you when doing the drill and technique sets.

No pre-booking required, but strictly COLT members only – due to insurance reasons we are not able to offer swim sessions to non-members.

Open Water Swimming

Open water swim sessions are held at Capernwray Dive Centre from May – September

(Home | Capernwray Diving Centre Jackdaw Quarry, Capernwray Rd, Carnforth LA6 1AD)

This is not a coached session but the COLT meet-up time is usually Wednesday 6.30 pm for anyone who might be new to open water swimming and would like a buddy for their first lap. We swim at our own risk.

In order to swim on Wednesday nights – or indeed at any time – you will need a Capernwray swim membership card (these are available from Dive Centre reception during opening hours and cost £15 per season), and then pay the normal £6 entry fee on the gate.

All swimmers must abide by the terms and conditions set out by Capernwray Dive Centre.

*Please note that there will be no swim sessions on the evenings that clash with the Capernwray Sprint Tri series (first Wednesday each month of June/July/August/Sept).

Cycle Training

Most Sundays at 08:30m 3-1-5 Health Club: moderate riding (suitable for fit beginners – “no drop” policy) riding for 3-4 hours. There is usually a cafe stop on the route, so bring cash/card with you.

Sometimes there will be a shorter distance ride for beginners (aka Splinter ride).

Rides are free so come along and improve your riding skills, build up your fitness, explore the countryside and enjoy the social banter. Come along one Sunday morning and you’ll never want to have a lie in again. Non-members welcome - if you are new and yet to join COLT, you can come along to a Sunday morning ride as a guest up to 3 times. After this you must join the club to continue to ride with us. Riders must be over 18.

For all rides it’s best to check Facebook and /or Whatsapp group to see if anyone is planning to head out.

Not able to ride at those times? Post on the club Facebook group / whatsapp when you want to go out and you may find a member who wants to join you
