Bayside Tri Club are delighted to host our popular sea swim triathlon at Stokes Bay. Although it is a sea swim it’s still very much aimed at those new to multi-discipline events and those making the transition from pool/lake based events to sea swim ones.
Starting and finishing at Stokes Bay Sailing Club the event will consist of a 400m sea swim in the Solent (with the current) followed by a 25 km bike leg along the seafront to Lee on the Solent with a loop out to Titchfield and return and lastly a 5km run taking in parts of Stokes Bay promenade and adjacent paths.

Trophies to be won for the first 3 in both categories.
The Swim leg is a 400m straight swim in The Solent. Ideal for first time sea swimmers racers, it's a straight line parallel to shore (no buoys or turns to contend with) with the current. For the nervous, it's a gentle beach entry and exit with a short run over shingle to reach transition. Starts are graded for speed, so there's no worries about being swum over, and with shallow water and plenty of shore and waterborne support, it's an easy way to get a taste for the briny!
The bike leg is 25km, and a mixture of quiet country roads and seafront views. Starting at Stokes Bay Sailing Club, it heads west along Stokes Bay, before dipping inland around the bottom of Alver Valley Country Park before a straight dash to and along the seafront at Lee on the Solent. Once past HMS Daedalus , it follows the B3334 into Stubbington, and then Titchfield. A quick climb up coach hill, before turning south towards Titchfield Haven, a short divert into Stubbington to join the B3334 and back along Lee on the Solent seafront and retracing back to Stokes bay and Transition.
The run leg is a flat and fast 5Km. Turning east out of transition, it follows the Stokes Bay promenade to the end, before U turning and heading back towards the lifeboat station. Just before the station, it runs left for a quick loop around the meadow, before rejoining the promenade and a quick dash to the finish line for medals and glory!
