Chairman Dan Willis Calls on the Community to Support AFC Mackworth

Wed, 08 Jan 2025, 13:27

AFC Mackworth has seen incredible growth over the past few years, becoming a vital part of our local community and a source of pride for all involved.

With over 250 players now representing the club across our various teams, we have achieved so much together. However, to maintain this success and ensure we continue to grow, we need more support than ever from our community.

At the moment we have around 35 coaches, but to effectively support our players and their development, we need closer to 50. Coaches are the backbone of our teams, and they’re a huge part of what makes the club function.

Behind the scenes, we urgently need at least 10 additional off-field volunteers to step into key roles such as Secretary, Treasurer, Fundraising Officers, Grounds/Pitch Maintenance and a Junior Lead. We also need general volunteers to assist with events and day-to-day operations.

These roles are not just titles; they are vital to our club. Without the dedication of volunteers, we simply wouldn’t be able to function as a football club, or host the community events that bring us all together. Each role plays a crucial part in keeping AFC Mackworth running smoothly and ensuring it remains a place where players of all ages can thrive.

Our club has always been about more than just football. It’s about building a sense of belonging, teaching values like teamwork and discipline, and giving children in our community the opportunity to grow both on and off the pitch. But we can only continue to do this with the support of those who believe in what we’re trying to achieve.

Volunteering might sound daunting, but every little bit of time you can spare makes a huge difference. Whether you’re interested in coaching, taking on an administrative role, or simply helping out at events, we can find a role that suits your skills and availability. We will support you every step of the way and ensure that volunteering with AFC Mackworth is as rewarding for you as it is essential for the club.

Ultimately, AFC Mackworth belongs to the community. Everything we do is for the benefit of the children and families who are part of it. By stepping up and getting involved, you’re not just helping the club; you’re helping to create a brighter future for everyone involved.

If you’re interested in joining us as a coach or volunteer, please don’t hesitate to reach out by emailing [email protected]. Together, we can ensure AFC Mackworth continues to grow and remains a cornerstone of our community for years to come.

Best regards,

Dan Willis - AFC Mackworth Chairman
